What a fantastic purchase!

I am writing this review for anyone like me, who has a porch light WITHOUT a dawn to dusk sensor and has been trying to find an after-market screw on adapter to make it work like one so they won't have to invest in a new porch light like this one. Bottom line: Stop fighting it and just buy this thing already. I tried every screw on dawn to dusk adapter available and they all either didn't work well or stopped working after a short amount of time. In the end, I spent MORE than the cost of this porch light on all those failed attempts and finally just bit the bullet and bought this thing.
Suffice to say, it works great! Turns on at dusk and off by the time I wake up. Just as advertised. I also think it looks great and I love the yellow glow it gives off. I resist CFL bulbs because I hate their blueish tint, but because of the yellow shade this lamp comes with, it's almost as if you have a candle in the thing.
A great purchase that I should have made years ago.

simple but reasonably well made and very nice exterior coating; nice yellow-ish glow from the glass shade
update: this is a solid light but it used to be at a reasonable price of $65. the 60% increase to over $100 in a slow economy is hard to justify and should cause you to consider low priced designer lights

photoelectric switch failed after 9 months

The light was easy to install and looked decent. Not great, but decent for the price. You could see the padded tape on the inside holding the glass pieces in, but this was a minor quibble. Our front porch was fairly shaded at the sensor wasn't sensitive enough so it would only turn off during the brightest part of the day. Again, not great, but I could live with it. Then after about 9 months of service it just wouldn't turn on at all. I managed to isolate the problem to a failed photoelectric solenoid. I was able to open up the housing and bypass it so I could at least have a functioning light, but without the photoelectric switch.
